Lattice Lamp
2014 || aluminum, walnut burl veneer, LED bulb
The Lattice Lamp is a bed-side lamp milled from stock aluminum on a Haas CNC mill and features a bead-blasted finish, walnut burl paneling, and touch control dimming. The lamp was modeled in Solidworks and HSM Works was used to generate tool paths for each of the 8 total parts. The lamp's frame was then welded together.
The inspiration for this lamp comes from the intricate lines of Chinese lattice patterns that can be seen on buildings. I chose to blend this classic element with the more industrial, modern look of the aluminum, while adding a natural tone with the wood burl paneling, giving the lamp a warm, earthy glow.
